A Crochet Weekend

I have been slightly quieter than usual because I’ve been in knitwear design mode for an early March deadline.  All is ticking along well and I’m enjoying it, but as ever, when working on creative solo projects, it is lovely to have a bit of an escape.  So just a quick one from me this week.

As you might guess, this weekend is happily stuffed full of crochet.  On Saturday I will be teaching two lots of crochet: first, at The White Room; then at Fringe 108.  Both are at beginner level, and with a bit of enthusiasm, both my groups should be at least well on their way to producing granny squares like these:

BeginnersCrochetGrannySquaresThere are a couple of spaces left at The White Room this Saturday so do come along if you are anywhere near Crofton Park!  Nicky and I are really looking forward to our first official workshop together following the Croftmas fair.

Crochet is starting to get a bit more attention these days, and in response to demand/interest I have been working with Fringe to create a new Improvers Crochet workshop, which will run for two Wednesdays in early March.  It has been great fun making up samples for this workshop; the focus is on texture and getting more practice at pattern instructions.  There will also be a Mothers Day crochet workshop at Fringe at the end of March so look out a special post on that, and the improvers class, in the next week or two.

I am still eyeing up the Sidewalk Shawl from my last post – it is my post-deadline project!  I have wound about four hanks of the Tuhu yarn into balls in anticipation and the shawl will be perfect for christening the set of KnitPro Waves crochet hooks I bought from Purple Linda Crafts a few weeks back:

And finally…a very sneaky peek at my design!
