Hello! Finally, a little post for you all. Apologies for the radio silence but the start of term has been manic, coupled with a steep learning curve. I have been at UWL just over two months but am having to bluff a little when it comes to being and feeling part of the furniture. I’m already looking forward to the end of term so I can catch my breath a bit!
Coupled with this there are a few new classes to tell you about for this season, all of which are at Sew Over It, Clapham. This post is coming to you a bit later than planned, but I haven’t missed much. For those north of the river I have a crochet class coming up at Fringe in Muswell Hill this November.
I am now teaching more techniques classes for knitters who’ve covered the basics (casting on/off, knit and purl) or who want to learn a new technique. So, we now have three new classes on learning to knit cables, lace and intarsia (the technique for knitting blocks of colour like polka dots, tartans or vertical stripes). All the classes are listed on this page – scroll down to the bottom for the knit and crochet ones.
Each class is 3 hours long and right now they’ll take place on Wednesday evenings, beginning with cables on 4th November. You can book for as many or as few as you like; they work well alone or together, so you can really mix and match to suit you and what you’d like to do. By the end of each session you’ll have a lovely sample and some helpful notes to keep close to hand as you practice at home.
I also got off campus last Wednesday to work with the Woman’s Weekly team for one of their Learn to Crochet workshops. Some cheerful colours and goodie bags all round – I took this snap shortly after we broke for lunch. Can’t wait for my next visit to WWHQ!
